Thanks to a grant from the Tonkawa Education Foundation, students at Tonkawa Elementary were recently treated to a visit from author Rosie J. Pova. A multi-published, awardwinning children’s author, Rosie is on a mission to inspire children not only to read and write more, but to use their creativity, follow their passions, dream big, and believe in themselves. Rosie visits schools and shares her inspirational journey as an immigrant from Bulgaria and how she became a published author, encouraging students to persist in overcoming obstacles and to use a positive mindset to help them reach their goals faster. Thank you, T.E.F. for this opportunity! Author Rosie J. Pova Visits Tonkawa Elementary

The Tonkawa High School Arts and Humanities Club recently joined forces with the Lincoln Senior Center to make fifteen lap blankets for the residents of Willow Haven Nursing Home. Several students and seniors worked together over three days to produce the blankets recently delivered to Willow Haven. The Arts and Humanities Club is a combination of THS Art Club and the Humanities Club formed by retired educator Kurt Kirtley. Dawn Huff the sponsor for THS Art combined the two clubs upon his retirement since both organizations have the same goals. Those goals include volunteer community service to local organizations for the benefit of the community, raising money to offset cost of projects, and to provide students with opportunities to give back to their community by helping others. A big thank you to the Lincoln Center Seniors for their contribution and high school club members helping to complete the project, Luke Shepherd, Gabe Hankla, AJ Harmon, Alina Muniz, Lacey Howard, and Mia Kristy. Also thank you to Nevaeh Roundtree and Zoe Jones eighth grade volunteers. Dawn Huff, current sponsor encourages any student grades 9-12 that would like to participate to join up.
