OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Kevin Stitt has approved a controversial set of rules from the Oklahoma State Department of Education, as expected after the Legislature declined to take action on the regulations.

The annual Lucky Duck Derby sponsored by the Tonkawa High School Alumni Association, partnering with the Tonkawa Masonic Lodge, will be held on Monday, July 4th, immediately following the parade downtown Tonkawa at the canal on West Grand Avenue between 9th and 10th Street, just west of Treasures on Grand (previously the Christian Church). Ducks can be adopted for the Derby at the Tonkawa Chamber Office, Owen’s NAPA Auto Supply, Okie Insurance & and Sarah Campbell’s Dental Office. You may also adopt a duck from these THS Alumni Board members: Jeremy Owen, Shari Gierhart and Reta Swords; or from individuals: Lori Simpson, Michelle Owen & Jennifer Burns. Ducks may also be adopted at Venture Foods beginning Saturday, June 1st through Wednesday, July 3rd or until we sell out. Youth Police Academy Students Gain Hands-On Experience in Crime Solving and Safety Training

Ponca City, OK — Last week, students from Pioneer Tech’s Youth Police Academy had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of criminal justice. Under the guidance of instructor Tom Burg, Officer Amy Ballinger, and Officer Caleb Peterson the students engaged in Crime Scene Investigation and learned about safety protocols as well as various police operations. The hands-on experience was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field, preparing them for potential future careers in law enforcement and public safety.
