What would it take to beat Hominy Friday night at Tonkawa. Here’s what Head Coach Mike Kirtley said: “We’ll have to play out of this world and hopefully get some breaks from them along the way.”Class A second-ranked Hominy comes to Buc Stadium Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. It will be senior night.“Hominy and Woodland seem to be on a different level than the rest of the league,” Kirtley said. The Bucs get Woodland the final game of the regular season at their place. The Bucks are 7-0. “They’re big and fast and just plain hard to deal with,” Kirtley said. They’ll be in a spread offense and multiple defenses.Hominy has reeled off wins over Kellyville 54-0, Cleveland 41-12, Pawhuska 38-16, Pawnee 5522, OK Union 49-6, Morrison 42-8 and Chelsea 49-6.It won’t get any easier the rest of the way. Tonkawa goes to Chelsea Oct. 27 (they beat Morrison three weeks ago) and to third-ranked Woodland Nov. 3.Hominy still has Woodland and Chouteau left, both home games for the Bucks. On Morrison loss...“We’ve shown tendencies not to play good when we don’t have school the day of the game,” Kirtley said.“We just didn’t have the intensity that Morrison had and momentum seemed to be with them most of the night. In fact, they grabbed it and kept it.”District A-5 Standings... Dist.
