Momentum... It’s a very important factor in any football game, especially high school. Once it swang in favor of Morrison Friday night, they seemed to keep it. The results: An 18-7 upset of the Tonkawa Bucs. Tonkawa seemed to be playing catch-up all night. The Wildcats had possession of the ball nearly all of the first quarter. The Bucs lost the toss and Morrison deferred. Tonkawa was able to move the ball from their own 25 to the Morrison 48, before being forced to punt.The Wildcats proceeded on a 91-yard march in 21 plays for the first touchdown, taking a 6-0 lead.Morrison took the ball again, covering an onside kick, but the Tonkawa defense stopped them cold.The Bucs came roaring back, going 63 yards in 4 plays. The big play in the drive was a 48 yard pass from Ryan Morgan to Cayden Duvall. Morgan also had a 13 yard run in the drive. The senior quarterback scored from one yard out. Alexander Fink was perfect on the conversion kick and Tonkawa led 7-6.There was no more scoring in the first half and the 7-6 Buc lead stood until the third quarter. Both teams traded punts to open the second half. The Wildcats then took the lead 12-7 on a 65 yard drive in 6 plays after stopping the Bucs at the Morrison 35.After the kickoff, the Bucs drove all the way from their own 33 to the Morrison 7 with a Morgan pass to Duvall covering 46 yards. But Tonkawa ended up turning the ball back on downs.The Wildcats were able to get to the 50 before the Buc defense stiffened and forced them to punt.The Bucs started at their own 7. On second down from their own 10, Morrison intercepted a Buc pass and ran it 21 yards into the endzone for an 18-7 lead.After the ensuing kickoff, the Bucs were forced to punt and Morrison ran out the final 6:35 of the ball game, moving from their own 48 all the way to the Buc 15 before taking a knee to end the game.Morgan finished 4-11-2 passing for 101 yards. Cayden Duvall caught two passes covering 94 yards.Dom Grein led the defense with 13 tackles. Lucas Keith and Morgan each had 11 and Dalton Pierce 9.
