Here’s the deal, Buc fans, on the playoffs. If Tonkawa is to make the playoffs this year, it’ll take two things. The first is a win over Woodland this Friday night. The second is a loss by Morrison to Pawnee. You see, Tonkawa and Morrison are tied for fourth place, but the Wildcats own the head-to-head by virtue of their 18-7 win over Tonkawa.Impossible to beat Woodland? No. But it’ll take a valiant effort by the Bucs, especially on defense. Kick off is at 7 p.m. this Friday at Fairfax. “I think we’re playing really good football right now,” Head Coach Mike Kirtley said. “I’m not ready for it to be over. Our kids are finally starting to play really well and it’s becoming fun for coaches and players alike.”The Cougars are “very athletic,” Kirtley said. “They’ll be a handful. Losing is not an option if we want to make the playoffs.”Offensively, Woodland will run lots of double tight in multiple spread formations. Defensively, they’ll be in a 4-2-5.“They’re big up front and they come off the ball really well.” Tonkawa is 6-3 on the season. The Cougars are 8-l, losing to Hominy 20-23 last Friday night. Woodland’s wins have come over Commerce 42-7, Newkirk 36-0, Pawhuska 38-22, Chelsea 60-8, Chouteau 36-8, Pawnee 26-6, OK Union 52-6, and Morrison 44-12.Standings... Dist.
