Tonkawa did something rare this week. Offensively and defensively, the Bucs were clicking on all cylinders at the same time in a 43-0 win over Oklahoma Union Friday night.Adynn Ronald and Ryan Morgan were crowned 2023 Homecoming Queen and King. Offensively, Tonkawa rushed for 300 yards, running for four touchdowns and passing for two more.Defensively, well what do you say about this defense. Their third shutout and yet another goal-line stand. They just never cease to amaze. Four of the six Buc TD’s were set up by the defense -- a blocked punt, a fumble recovery, an interception and another when the Cougars started at their own 17 and were set back 14 yards forcing a punt at the three.OKU took the opening kickoff and drove from their own 25. Seven plays later they had a first and goal at the Buc 9,. The Cougars were faced with fourth and one, the 11th play of the drive. Derek Strong, Lucas Keith and Isaiah Lively were there to meet the runner at the endzone line, turning the ball to Tonkawa.After trading punts, the Bucs scored early in the second quarter on a 76 yard drive. On the sixth play, Ryan Morgan ran 12 yards for the TD. He then passed to Cayden Duvall for the two point conversion.Big plays in the drive were a pass from Morgan to Duvall for 23 yards, a 12 yard run by Lucas Keith and a 9 yard run by Clayton Lopeman.On Tonkawa’s next possesstion, they drove from their own 23 to the OKU 18 before fumbling the ball away, the Bucs’ only turnover of the night. The drive was set up by a Morgan interception.After trading punts, Lopeman ended a Cougar threat when he intercepted in the endzone on a fourth down pass at the 30.Tonkawa took an 8-0 lead into halftime. The Bucs scored three times in the third quarter. The first came on the opening drive of the second half. Lopeman crossed the goal-line after scampering 33 yards. Alexander Fink booted the PAT kick, the first of five for the game.Lopeman’s TD run was the sixth play in a 52 yard drive that included runs by Lopeman for 18 yards and Morgan for 21.Tonkawa went up 22-0 on a Morgan to Duvall pass of 11 yards.
