Veda Mae Tull

Funeral services for Veda Mae Tull, 89 years old, will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Pawnee, OK with Pastor John Coker officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, north of Pawnee, OK, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Veda was born in Mazie, OK in September 1935. She passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Weatherford, OK, surrounded by family and music.

Throughout her life, Veda was dedicated to family, friends and neighbors, touching many lives with her caring and kindness. She knew about hard work starting with delivering papers with her family as a child and this work ethic carried on in administrative assistant positions she held as her husband, James Evertt Tull, worked as a salesman. Veda and Jim were married in Tonkawa, OK on June 5, 1955, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. They had three sons: Jeff, Steve and Jay. They lived in a variety of places including Colorado, Indiana, Ohio and Oklahoma.

Veda enriched and influenced the lives of the people she knew. As she and Jim moved with his job, she was active in the local churches. She helped people in need ranging from a kind word to providing a place to live. Even in the nursing home, she cared for her fellow residents.

She was a talented quilter and an excellent cook, having her recipes printed in newspapers. And because God gave her sons, she taught them to cook, making her daughter-in-laws grateful. Veda enjoyed playing the piano, raising miniature schnauzers, gardening, reading and vanilla-bean ice cream.

Veda is survived by her sons: Jeff Tull of Columbus, OH, Steve and Dilynn Tull of Celeste, TX, and Jay and Barbara Tull of Weatherford, OK; a brother, Guy and Lois Lyall of Tonkawa, OK; four grandchildren: Jacob Tull, Kayla Tull, Maria Hackworth, and April Tull; and three great-grandchildren: Eve LeMay, Page Hackworth and Daisy Tull; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Tull; her parents, Harold Charles Lyall, Sr. and Ila Alfa (Smith) Lyall; three brothers, Harold Lyall, Jr., J.D. “Cotton” Lyall, and Max Lyall; a sister, Jeroldine “Bill” Hurst; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Tull.
