Phyllis Marie O’Mealey
Phyllis Marie O’Mealey, 89, of Willis, TX, went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2023, at HCA Houston Healthcare in Conroe, TX, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Tonkawa, OK, with Pastor Jeff McReynolds officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Lamont Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home 505 Thunderbird Rd. Tonkawa, Oklahoma 74653.
Phyllis was born on August 25,1933, in Salt Fork, OK., in Grant County to Clarence and Thelma (Meece) Cole. Phyllis was raised in the Christian Church. She was a graduate of Lamont High School, class of 1951. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS., as a young woman. Phyllis married Lawrence Dunn O’Mealey in Buffalo, OK., and together they raised 10 children. The couple moved to Moscow, TX., in the late 70’s to raise their youngest child, Lisa. Phyllis formerly resided in Cole, and was a longtime resident of Salt Fork, OK, Lamont, OK, and Enid, OK. The last eleven years she resided with her youngest daughter in Willis, TX.
Mom loved gardening, flowers, painting, crafting, genealogy, reading, and cooking, along with a good laugh. She was a homemaker and could always make something out of nothing. Phyllis was someone who was always trying to learn new things whether it be from a new book or new recipe, to a new style of craft she had seen and wanted to try. Phyllis had a big heart with a lot of love to give and had a will that couldn’t be swayed, she had a personality that could strike up a conversation with anyone and the generations she raised could make them mind with one finger.
Phyllis is survived by: her children and step-children, Lisa O’Mealey-Ober and husband, John and grandson, Justin Ober, Russell L. O’Mealey, Dwayne E. O’Mealey and wife, Orpha, Michael R. Robertson, Frank D. O’Mealey, and Daniel L. Robertson, Jerri Deck (Robertson), Anita White (Robertson), Sandra Nowicki (Robertson) and Susan Emery (Robertson). She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence W. and Thelma Cole, along with her husband, Lawrence Dunn O’Mealey and son, Michael R. Robertson.
