Donald Fay Kleinschmidt 1940 — 2024

Donald Fay Kleinschmidt, 84, passed away on June 20th, 2024 at home in Tonkawa. He formerly resided in Blackwell and Sand Springs. He was born May 3rd, 1940 in Rooks County, KS to Elmer and Elsie (Dougherty) Kleinschmidt. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1958. After high school he joined the United States Navy, and later worked and retired from Southwestern Bell.

In 1963, Don met Beverly Sissel, and they were married July 9th 1965, almost 59 years. Together, they had 3 children, Joseph, Barbara (Ray), and Michael. He was a devoted spouse and parent, always putting his family first and cherishing every moment. He made sure all his children knew how to ride a bike, throw a ball, and change the oil and tires.

Don enjoyed working with his hands. He completed many projects including decks, garages, and green houses. He also enjoyed taking care of plants and he had quite the green thumb. He spent his mornings on the deck drinking coffee and watching the hummingbirds. He spent his evenings watching westerns and doing word finds. He could quote every John Wayne movie ever made.

After his retirement, Don and Beverly spent many years traveling the US in an RV, making lots of friends, and miles of memories along the way. They both enjoyed hosting gatherings at the campsites as well as playing card games.

Don is survived by his wife, Beverly Kleinschmidt. His children: Joseph (Karen) Kleinschmidt, Barbara (William) Ray, Michael (Christina) Kleinschmidt. His 9 grandchildren: Branson (Amber) Daniel, Kari (Chad) Widener, Eric Daniel, Kelsie (Jon) Stokesberry, Kristin Kleinschmidt, Trenton Kleinschmidt, Teegan Ray, BreAnna Ray, and Brandon (Sam) Ray, and his 15 great-grandchildren. Also, his brothers: Kenneth, Richard, Melvin (Connie), Lloyd (Rita), Lael, and sister JoAnne (Bill) Seeber.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law, son in law William Ray, and 3 brother in laws.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Don would like for you to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.
