PAULINE ANNIS HISE
Pauline Annis Hise, age 90, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, in Surprise, Arizona. She was born on Sunday, July 27, 1930, in Pilot Point, Texas. Her parents were Wallace Clinton Hill and Maggie Evangeline Robison. The family lived in Gainesville, Texas, until 1934 when they moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Pauline and her parents were active in the First Nazarene Church in Ponca City, where she came to know the Lord at an early age. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1949.
Pauline met Jack Hise in 1950, and they were married in Ponca City on January 28, 1951. For over 25 years, the couple lived in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, with their only son, Michael, and were members of the Tonkawa First Baptist Church. Pauline served as bookkeeper for their Ford automobile dealership and repair businesses. She also owned a children’s clothing boutique in Tonkawa.
In 1979, the couple retired and moved into a newly built home at Lake Eufaula, near Checotah, Oklahoma. They enjoyed their “life on the lake” together with their three Irish Setters and Golden Retriever. A few months after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, Jack died on September 2, 2011.
Pauline then moved to Arizona to be closer to her son’s family. In November 2011 she became a full-time resident of the Chaparral Winds Independent Living complex in Surprise, Arizona. Pauline loved her many friends at “Chaparral” and always looked forward to dining and playing cards and games with her friends. She also enjoyed singing in the Chaparral Winds choir. She lived there until her health rapidly declined in late August this year.
Pauline is survived by her son Michael Hise (Patricia), of Goodyear, Arizona; and her only grandchild, Ryan Hise, also of Goodyear, Arizona. Her final resting place will be next to her husband, Jack, at the Resthaven Memorial Park in northeast Ponca City. Services are private at this time; however, a public memorial service for Pauline will be held in the Tonkawa area. The date and exact location of the service will be announced later.
