Bucs Nip Garber At Gun, 45-44 On Davis’s Shot Gregg Davis’s clutch 25 foot shot that swished the net with six seconds remaining to be played proved to be the margin of victory Tuesday night as the Tonkawa High school Buccaneers nipped the Garber Wolverines at the gun, 45-44 in a hotly contested ballgame at Garber. The Bucs looked like they were out of it with 11 seconds to be played in the game. In order to get the ball from the stalling Wolverines, Davis toned D. Green who was overjoyed at the prospect of canning a couple of free shots on the 1-1 situation. He missed and center John McIntyre, who played one of his best games on the boards, came up with the ball and the Bucs headed for the goal at the opposite end of the floor. Davis lofted the ball and it hit the bucket dead center, and the Tonkawans went wild.Davis not only provided the finishing kick for the Bucs with his clutch basket, he was the leading scorer in the game with 18 points on eight fielders and a free throw. McIntyre was the only other Buc to hit in double figures as he hit 14 on six fielders and a pair of free shots. Leading scorer for Garber was R. Fincher with 14, followed by T. Dennis with 12. Two players fouled out in the fourth period, Larry Case for the Bucs and T. Nelson for Garber.Free Throws Are Difference The Bucs hit 19 fielders to 21 for the Wolverines but hit 7-13 at the free throw line to 3-8 for Garber.McIntyre led the Bucs in rebounds with 11. Other Bucs who scored were Case and Myron Davis, 4 apiece and Steve McKnight, Tom Allen and Ron Magner 2 apiece.
