Dominic qualified for the THS Danny Blubaugh Memorial AllStar Showcase in two sports during the 2023/24 season; first as an Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) selection to the 2023 All-State Football Team and as a State Champion in Track for the discus in 2024 with a toss of 156-06 feet. Dominic also placed fourth in the shot put in 2024.Dominic’s parents are Peter and Monica Grein and brothers Brekken, Cameron, and James. Dominic played football under coach Mike Kirtley for four seasons. Besides being selected to the OCA All-State team in 2024, he was all district defensive lineman as a sophomore, and chosen as the district defensive most valuable player as a senior. Dominic was also chosen to play in the 2024 OCA All-State game at Oklahoma Baptist University. Dominic played well and his East team won 14-6.Per the former Lyle Becker at the Tonkawa News, Dominic is listed in fifth place at THS in tackles in football/ Dominic plans to compete at OSU as a freshman in football as a “preferred walk-on” at tight end.Dominic competed in track for four years in discus and shot put and qualified for the state meet as a Junior and Senior. In addition to winning the State Championship in discus and placing fourth in the shot put as a Senior, Dominic also set the THS record in the discus at the district track meet his senior year with a toss of 163 feet..Dominic played basketball for four years, three of which were under coach Peter Grein, his father, and was chosen to the All-conference team his senior year with a team won-loss record of 18-10, averaged 11 points per game, 7.8 blocks per game and 1.8 blocks per game.Dominic also excelled academically while at THS achieving a 3.96 GPA as a senior and achieving numerous awards including: THS Alumni Scholarship, Endowed Scholarships from Cory and Lynn Bowker (Freshman endowment) and Jack and Patti Bowker, OSU Alumni Scholarship, the Kay County OSU Alumni Scholarship and was on the National Honor Society.Dominic worked as a lifeguard during the summers of 2022 and 23.Dominic has elected to enroll at OSU in the college of Petroleum Engineering.Dominic said he was influenced by Mrs. Francis Wecker while at THS because “she always had faith in me and pushed me to be better”.When asked what he would tell young people about THS academics, sports, and life in general, he said,
