The Girl Scouts of Tonkawa in Troop 7533 made an incredible donation on Wednesday, October 2. In the weeks prior to their generous trip to the Tonkawa Animal Shelter, the girls began fundraising and collecting donations as their community service project. From dog and cat food to toys and blankets, these girls spent their time to give back to the community. Before making their way to the Animal Shelter that day, the Girl Scouts were able to tour and learn about everything that happens behind the scenes at the Tonkawa Veterinary Clinic. After finishing there, they headed to meet Suzanne Burns, Tonkawa’s very own Animal Control Officer, to learn more about what she does for the community. Answering any questions the children might have had and explaining what she does for the animals of Tonkawa, ACO Burns was very attentive with the girls. After their questions were answered and they were able to love on some animals, the girls donated a heaping pile of goodies to the animal shelter.“I had the privilege of visiting with about 15 to 20 Girl Scouts that came out to the shelter, brought donations, and visited with me. They were such a wonderful group of girls. They did great and they were so respectful and I was so glad to have them down there. The puppies really enjoyed them. Thank you again, from the animal shelter. Appreciate you. Hopefully you girls come back real soon,” said Suzanne Burns on the Tonkawa Animal Shelter Facebook page.
