Kay County Commission Monday, August 5, 2024 Newkirk, OklahomaThe Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Kay County, Oklahoma, met in regular session at 9:00 o’clock a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, the meeting was posted for public information on August 2, 2024, at 8:50 a.m. at the Commissioners Room, west entrance of the Kay County Administration Building in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and on the Kay County Website.Chairman Shane Jones called the meeting to order: Jason Shanks, Member, present; Jeff Kreger, Member, present. Others present were as follows: Brian Hermanson, Kay County District Attorney; Steve Kelley, Kay County Sheriff; Rhonda Stephens, Kay County Treasurer; Melissa Vap, Kaw Nation; Everett Brazil, Ponca City News; Claude Williams, Taxpayers for Transparency; Tammy Reese, Secretary/Kay County Clerk.Chairman Shane Jones led the flag salute.Motion was made by Kreger and seconded by Shanks approving the regular meeting minutes of July 29, 2024. Motion carried: Kreger, aye; Jones, aye; Shanks, aye.No report was given by Donna Parker, Oklahoma Court Services, presenting the number of community service hours defendants are working and the projects they are involved in.Motion was made by Shanks and seconded by Kreger approving reimbursement from the State for the Election Board Secretary’s Salary for the month of July 2024. Motion carried: Kreger, aye; Jones, aye; Shanks, aye.Road and Bridge Projects/Circuit Engineering District (CED) No. 8 Road and Bridge Projects: Commissioner Jones said his crews put in a new culvert on Kildare and Tower Rds., hauled dirt from Shop #2, clean up area to do a build up on Union St., cleaned a ditch on Kildare Rd., mowed, boom mowed, and graded roads district-wide. Commissioner Shanks said his crews worked in shop and hauled FEMA rock.Commissioner Kreger said his crews dug shale and sand at the pits, graded roads, hauled sand, shale, and rock to the roads, mowed roadsides, and fixed signs.Motion was made by Kreger and seconded by Shanks approving to purchase a temporary easement J/P 34535(04), Kay County, Hubbard Rd. over Chikaskia River, Parcel 1.1 and sign the Administrative Settlement counteroffer, Dist#1.
