Mrs. Wecker has a deep understanding of what it takes to make a successful program. She has teaching experience in Kansas and was one of 5 finalists for the Kansas Teacher of the Year. In addition, she is a college adjunct instructor. Mrs. Wecker is starting her 6th year at TPS. She has been selected twice by her peers as Teacher of the Year. She is extremely excited about starting this new venture.“I can’t think of a better leader for this program than Mrs. Wecker. She is full of energy and knowledge and truly loves to teach,” remarked Superintendent Lori Simpson. The STEM program is replacing Family and Consumer Science (FACS). There was little student interest in FACS and no certified instructors, therefore the District elected to discontinue the program. The workforce is seeking employees who have STEM backgrounds. This program will better prepare students for the 21st Century.
