Happy Camp this morning informing him that a grant of $303,000 has been approved for the North Central Inter-Tribal Council.The letter read as follows: Dear Mr. Allen: We are pleased to inform you that we have been notified by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Office of Human Development, that a grant of $303,000 has been approved for the North Central Inter-Tribal Council, Inc., under the Native American Program.These funds will be used in connection with the establishment of a strong tribally oriented planning, development, management and evaluation system for all aspects of tribally directed physical, economics and social development. Sincerely, Happy Camp, Member of Congress.Allen resides in the Tonkawa Indian Community, east of city.Plans Are Being Made For Big July 4th Old Fashioned Celebration in Tonkawa Get ready for a REALLY BIG 4th of July celebration IN Tonkawa!The Tonkawa Jaycees and the Tonkawa Bicentennial Committee are co-sponsoring the celebration, for young and old, which will include a parade, a picnic, community singing, and games of all kinds. Over $100 in prize money will be given for floats, decorated bicycles, and games. Money is being donated by the Chamber of Commerce and the Bicentennial Committee.To add floral beauty to the celebration the Delphi Study club is sponsoring a Petunia show in the basement of the United Methodist Church, and red and white petunias will be featured. The Show is in conjunction with the club’s “Plant Pride with Petunias” civic improvement project which was started last spring.Parade Pete Linton will be marshal for the parade which will begin at 10 a.m. Assisting will be Robbie Willerton (horses); Don Pendleton (National Guard); Henry Allen, Levi Stevens (Tonkawa Indians); Linda Love (Square Dancers); Dr. Gerald Burson (Antique Cars).
