Louis Vineyard Named Crocker Award WinnerLouis Vineyard has been named Tonkawa 1973-74 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow. Louis won the honor by competing with other seniors in the written knowledge and attitude examination on Dec. 1. Louis is the son of Dr. and Mrs. E. E. Vineyard, 200 S. Pine, is now eligible for state and national honors and will receive a specially designed award from General Mills, Inc., sponsor of the annual educated scholarship program.State Family Leaders of Tomorrow receive a $1,500 college scholarship while state second place winners receive a grant of $500. The state winner also earns for his or her school, a 20-volume reference work, “The Annals of America,” from Encyclopedia Brittanica Educational Corporation.This year, 703,074 students from 14,463 schools were enrolled in the Betty Crocker Search, which for the second year, included senior boys. Since the program began in 1954-55, approximately nine million students have participated and scholarship awards total more than $2 million.Mrs. Scheirman is Speaker At 20th Century Club MeetMembers and guests of the 20th Century Research Club met in the home of Mrs. Glenn Kreger on Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Ken Kreger was hostess for the evening, assisted by Mrs. Chuck James, Mrs. Joseph Brining, Mrs. Harold Lutes and Mrs. John Merryman. Guests for the evening were Eugenia Tickle, Mrs. Glenn Kreger and Mrs. James Scheirman. Inactive member Mrs. Russell Kreger was welcomed.Mrs. Scheirman gave the program on “Conservation in the Home.” Her program included points on buying groceries and serving foods economically. A few tips on conserving energy in the home were given.Members answered roll call with their own ways of saving. It was announced that next month’s meeting will be in the kindergarten room with Mrs. Marsha Shaw giving demonstrations of quilting.Members present were Mrs. Gerald O’Mealey, Mrs. Roger Blubaugh, Mrs. Bob Fruits, Mrs. Jim Mihura, Mrs. Dale Simpson, Mrs. Furman Simmons, Mrs. Jerry Legg, Mrs. Harold Lutes, Mrs. Chuck James, Mrs. Jim Terbush, Mrs. Joseph Brining, Mrs. Curtis Jackson, Mrs. Paul Muegge, Mrs. John Merryman, Mrs. Dick Pearman, Mrs. Joe Kreger, Mrs. Ken Kreger and Mrs. Russell Kreger.The meeting was adjourned with the club collect and members were served refreshments with the Valentine motif.Howard R.
