Tonkawa Superintendent of Schools Lori Simpson has been rehired for an 11th term.Her hiring was approved at the Wednesday, Jan. 11th, meeting of the board of education.After her hiring by a unanimous vote, Board President Brian Bowling read the following statement on behalf of the entire school board membership: “The Tonkawa School Board of Education continues to be impressed with the exceptional leadership Mrs. Lori Simpson has displayed as our District Superintendent. Mrs. Simpson’s guidance has been pivotal in facilitating a smooth transition for the new Administration and Faculty within the District. She has successfully overseen the ongoing cafeteria bond project, which will greatly benefit Tonkawa Public Schools and its students for generations to come. Under Mrs. Simpson’s guidance, TPS remains unwavering in its commitment to providing our students with an outstanding educational experience. Therefore, it is with great honor that we announce the renewal of Mrs. Lori Simpson’s contract as the Superintendent of Tonkawa Public Schools.”Board members present included Bowling, Casey McAninch, Tyler Langston and Melanie Bellinghausen. Jerry Hook was absent.In other action, the board approved the following items: -- $360,057.60 in general fund encumbrances. -- $300 in child nutrition fund bills. -- $135,867.50 to Joe D. Hall for what has been done on the new cafeteria.-- Updating the district student capacity data for the current quarter.-- A new board policy concerning the presence of sex offenders on school property.-- A new district bullying policy.
