Tonkawa Board of Education members Monday night were given reports on dropouts, enrollment as it relates to transfer policy requirements and percentage of students in college and career readiness.High School Principal Stony Fath said the school has had no drop-outs according to the latest report.He also presented the percent of students, according to ACT data, that students are ready to enter colleges. Percent of readiness, by subject area, include 60% in English, 31% in Math, 49% in reading and 44% in science.Superintendent Lori Simpson presented transfer policy numbers as required by the state on a quarterly basis.Capacity is 65 students per grade level.The district now has 810 students.Enrolled by grade follow: PK, 58; K, 59; first, 69; second, 47; third, 58; fourth, 62; fifth, 58; sixth, 67; seventh, 63; 8th, 52; 9th, 63; 10th, 64; 11th, 36; and 12th, 54.In other action, board members Casey McAninch, Tyler Langston and Melanie Bellinghausen (Jerry Hook and Brian Bowling were absent): -- Approved teacher residency committees as follows: Grade school mentors are Heather Shepherd for Kaitlin Keeran (third math/computer science); Beverly Frost for Holly Peart (4th math/ computer science); Kirstie Coffman for Ashley Neal (4th reading/ language arts); Chase Pfluger for Simeon Shepherd (PK-5 PE); Kaitlyn Vincent for Cathy Ballard (PK-5 PE). Administrator is ShaClair Garcia. Midhi/high school mentors include Frances Wecker for stefanie Anderson (7th science/PE). Administrators are Stony Fath and Monica Grein.-- Approved purchase orders totalling $198,782.02 from general fund; $242.81 from child nutrition; and $230,062.50 from the sinking fund.The board also adopted a resolution calling for the annual school board election and apaproved the hiring of two Student Resource Officers (see related stories).
