Hello Buc Nation! Guess what week it is? Aside from my birthday week, the Kay County Free Fair is here. Though this takes place in Blackwell rather than Tonkawa, it is no secret that many students and other Tonkawa people will make an effort to participate in this annual event, if it be in the form of riding rides, showing livestock, volunteering at one of the dozens of stands, or any of the other numerous roles that people play in this yearly event. On the note of annual events, Blue and Gold Sausage is once again on sale. Find your favorite aggie and help him or her raise money with this particular fundraiser. Orders are due by September 18, and these orders will arrive by the 26th approximately. The academic team began meeting last week, and the dates have been set for weekly practices: during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays and after school on Thursdays. The academic team is open to new members, so any interested high schooler ought to attend the meetings in Mrs. Reyes’s room. The Bucs defeated Perry this last Friday night in football with a score of eight to zero. They will play again on September 15 against Blackwell at Blackwell, a much anticipated game. Softball suffered a few losses this last week, but with this comes gained experience and a hope that this week’s games will have a more positive turnout, particularly with senior night being the 11th against Hennessey. Softball also faces off against Fairview and will participate in the NOC Enid Fall Festival. There is a cross country meet in Ponca City on the 12th and one on the 16th against Hennessey.Even with the heat having a seeming downward spike, all athletes should take this reminder to stay hydrated! Water is vital to the health of everyone, not just young people, so drink up and stay safe! Go Bucs!
