What a first week of school! School is now officially in session at Tonkawa, a week already completed. The Bucs faced off in football against Chisholm as a scrimmage, but we are all quite ecstatic that we have our first game of the season this Friday! Football isn’t the only sport thriving at the moment though—softball played in the Cherokee tournament this last weekend, placing in third, and they play against Shidler, Crescent, and Fairview this week. Cross country took off on Saturday at Alva, an event that “ran” smoothly. Our fall sports are obviously moving right along while bringing excitement to the school, but athletics aren’t the only thing going on. In the handbook this year, there are some new or modified rules, some dealing with dress code, tardiness, and most notably, cellular devices. This is truly the talk of the school in a heavy debate as to whether this is a beneficial change. Many would argue that it is not for a myriad of personal reasons, but from what the administrators have commented, it seems that there has been minimal protest that has reached the office.I do not know how well this will go, but I for one am anxious to see if these changes will be seamlessly accepted throughout the school year. Here is to the second week of school and every minute moment of it!
