The Tonkawa High School Cheerleaders helped the Tonkawa Firefighters Association sell fireworks at the firefighter’s booth east of town during the Fourth of July. The firefighters use the funds to support the community in various ways. When the firefighters heard the cheerleaders were needing to raise money for new uniforms and expenses, they offered to share the profits of the fireworks in exchange for help working the stand. The girls had a great time and the firefighters enjoyed having the help. This year’s firework stand was a big success and for their contribution, the cheerleaders raised $3,000. The firefighters are looking forward to helping the cheerleaders again next year and are hoping this year they can bring home a state title.
