50 years ago, May 7, 1973Six Superior Ratings Received BY THS Vocalists Tonkawa high school vocalists attained six superior and one excellent rating at the State Vocal Music Contest at Oklahoma University last Thursday. The vocal department is under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Klufa.All soloists rated superior. They were Richard Gorman, Frank Klufa, Mark Moorman, and Lisa Canaday. They are Robert L. Brown, Bachelor of BusinessAdministration; and Lawrence Joseph Swords, Bachelor of Business Administration, Cum Laude.Dr. Robert B. Kamm, president of Oklahoma State University, will deliver the commencement address. Scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Wantland stadium, the graduates will receive their diplomas from University President Dr. Garland Godfrey.A total of 1187 undergraduates and 194 graduate degrees will be conferred.Bachelor of Science in Education leads with 329 graduates, followed by Bachelor of Business Administration with 265 and Bachelor of Science with 257. Bachelor of Arts will be awarded to 156 persons. 103 will receive the Bachelor of Arts in Education degree, with 22 conferred Bachelor of Music Education degrees and one Bachelor of Music degree.
