Stacy Burns is Tonkawa’s new Mayor, it was decided at the Tuesday, April 18, meeting of the city council.It was the first meeting for newly elected Councilmen Reece Simpson and Brandt Harris.Each two years the city council re-organizes. Ken Smith had served as mayor for several terms.The motion to make Burns mayor was made by Simpson and seconded by Harris. It passed 3-2 with Smith and Charles Conaghan voting to reelect Smith as mayor.Conaghan was re-elected vice mayor by a majority vote as well.The latest financial report shows the city has $15, 394,834 in total cash with $9,741,025 restricted and $5,653,809 in unrestricted funds.
