Jim Appleman Medal Winner At OSU Scholastic Jim Appleman was the only contestant from Tonkawa high school to win a 1st, 2nd, of 3rd place rating at the annual Scholastic Meet held Saturday, April 14, at Oklahoma State University. Jim, a junior, won a second place medal in Chemistry and for the 18 other THS students competed against some of the largest schools in Oklahoma.Putnam City won the team trophy. Cantrell, 5-11, 215 pound tackle has been a member of Tonkawa Junior High school and High school football teams and has been a steady performer. He is one of eight outstanding high school football players from Oklahoma who have signed letters with Haskell. Another from this area is Howard Holloway.
