For the past several years, the Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the Tonkawa Film Festival. This festival showcases short independent films. The weekend is filled with activities, including a parade on Saturday, April 15.The Gateway First Bank Tonkawa banking center invites you to display quilts that you have made with a film theme during the week of April 10-15, leading up to the Film Festival on April 14-15. The film theme is wide: Disney, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and on and on – maybe you have made or will make a generic film-themed quilt that just honors the film industry in general. Quilts do not have to be brand new. Table Runners, Wall Hangings, Baby Quilts, and large Quilts are all accepted.Guests viewing the quilts will be invited to place their vote for “People’s Choice.” The winner will receive a $100 gift card. There is no fee to display your quilt and be entered into the competition. Entry forms are due by March 24.We invite you to bring your quilt to the Gateway First Bank Tonkawa banking center, 111 E Grand, on Friday, April 8, between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
