50 years ago, February 8, 19733 Principals Re-Hired; Fuhr Heads School Board Three school principals were re-hired for the 1973-74 school year by the board of education Monday night at its regular monthly meeting in the superintendent’s office at the high school. The action was taken following an executive session of the board.Hired were Jim Muhura, junior-senior high school principal, Mrs. Fern Weber, Washington elementary school principal and James Taylor, Lincoln elementary school principal. All of the principals were recommended by school superintendent T. J. Allen.John Kuchera, new board member was administered the oath of office and Mrs. Willa Mae Fuhr was named president of the board of education in the reorganization election. Ruel Case was elected vice chairman and David Rence, clerk.Board To Hire Principals, Name 1973-74 Officers A new board member will be sworn in, officers for the coming year elected and school principals hired tonight at the regular monthly meeting of the Tonkawa board of education in the the superintendent’s office.John Kuchera will assume his duties on the board tonight and will be administered the oath of office. He replaces Dr. Kenton E. Nesbit, board president, who did not seek election. Kuchera was the only person to file for the post.Principals for Tonkawa’s elementary, junior high and high school will be hired for the 1973-74 school year. Mrs. Fern Weber is Washington elementary school principal, Jim Taylor, principal at Lincoln elementary school and Jim Mihura is principal of the junior-senior high school.The board will elect a president, vice president and clerk at tonight’s meeting.Lorna Davidson Is Homemaker Of Tomorrow Tonkawa’s 1973 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow is Lorna Davidson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pedigo. Selected by score in a written knowledge and attitude examination taken by both senior boys and girls on Dec. 5, Lorna will receive a specially designed award from General Mills, sponsor of the annual Betty Crocker Search for American Homemakers of Tomorrow. In addition she remains eligible for state and national honors.The State Homemaker of Tomorrow, to be chosen from all school winners in the state in judging centering on performance in the Dec. 5 test, will receive a $1,500 college scholarship. A 20volume reference work, “The Annuals of America,” will also be presented to the state winner’s school by Encyclopedia Britannica Educational Corporation.
