Thank you…thank you and thank you… You might ask who I’m thanking. Start with the offensive line. Any time you score 9 times and accumulate 605 yards total offense — 463 rushing and another 142 passing — the unsung heroes are more often than not the offensive line.Who are they? Dom Grein, Jaidyn Guzman, Gavin Ward, Derek Strong, Peyten Keith and Jadin Howard. The 61-6 win over Mounds could have even been worse, much worse. You see, the Bucs gave the ball back to the Golden Eagles twice in scoring territory — once early in the game at the Mounds 13, and again late in the game at the Eagle two. This win was not all about the offense, though. Consider this, Mounds could muster but three first downs and 9 rushing yards the entire first half.Buc defenders were on point as well. Three pass interceptions — two by Ryan Morgan (his 7th and 8th of the year) and one returned by Roman Chandler 57 yards helped set up two of those scores.Luke Shepherd (17 tackles) Dom Grein (16) and Dalton Pierce (11) helped set the tone, not only in tackles but in take downs behind the line with Grein recording four, Shepherd three, Pierce, Blake Bristow, Jadin Howard and Jaidyn Guzman two each. And Guzman blocked a PAT kick as well as tipped a punt try by the opposition.Tonkawa scored 34 in the second quarter and added two more in each of the final two periods.Oh and by the way, Grein, Pierce, Guzman , Derek Strong (he tipped one away) and Howard were in the face of the Mounds signal-caller every time he tried to pass. Thanks to the blockers up front, all of Tonkawa’s offensive backs had stellar nights.Blake Bristow scored four touchdowns, three rushing and one passing on his way to another 100-yard plus all-purpose yard night with 88 rushing and 13 passing.Cam Jackson scored twice, both rushing posting a 206 yard evening on just 17 carries.Roman Chandler scored twice as well, both by pass recceptions. He accumulated 57 yards rushing and another 80 in pass receiving for 137 all-purpose yards.Junior quarterback Ryan Morgan rushed for 2 yards, and was 6 of 10 passing for 142 yards and three touchdowns.Morgan’s first interception late in the first quarter got the scoring deluge going for the Bucs, setting the offense up at the 37. On second down just four seconds into ...
