Tonkawa school board members Monday night approved meeting dates for 2023 and hired a new special education paraprofessional -- Kori Freeman.The board also heard from Jeremy Kimbrel and others concerning the addition of soccer as a sport. No action was taken.The board did approve the addition of girls wrestling as a sport at Tonkawa Public Schools.A special meeting of the board will be held at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 17, to consider two resolutions authorizing the leasing of certain real property to the Kay County Public Buildings authority.Board meetings will continue to be at 5:30 p.m. during 2023 on the following dates: Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 22, April 10, May 8, June 12, June 28, Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. All of the meetings will be Mondays except March 22 and June 28 which will be on Wednesday.In other action, board members Casey McAninch, Brian Bowling and Jerry Hook (Nancy Appleman and Tyler Langston were absent): -- Approved a cash fund estimate of needs and request appropriation for $625,000 for building bond fund 38.-- Tabled action on a cash fund estimate of needs and request appropriation for $13,707 for building fund 21.-- Approved $165,821.27 with $145,221.27 from the general fund $9,100 from the building fund, and $11,500 from bond fund 38.-- Approved closing general fund purchase order numbers 322 and 363.-- Approved Indian policies and procedures.-- Approved the filing for adjunct status for TES music teacher Katelyn Fisher.-- Approved the final general fund operating budget for the 2023 fiscal year.-- Approved making application for E-rate and Impact Aid.
