Tonkawa junior quarterback Ryan Morgan turned in his fourth straight 100-yard plus performance passing, leading the Bucs to a 37-26 important District A-5 win over eighth ranked Pawnee Friday night.The win helped move the Bucs up to second statewide in one Class A poll. He threw two touchdown passes and another one of 57 yards to set up one more score from a yard outside the endzone, completing 8 of 13 for 192 yards.Luke Shepherd and Dom Grein each had 21 tackles to lead the defense, which held the Black Bears in check most of the night.In a rare choice, the Bucs won the toss and elected to receive the ball. “We knew we had to establish ourselves early and hopefully get the lead and stay in the lead,” Head Coach Mike Kirtley explained.And that’s just exactly what happened. On second down, Morgan connected with receiver Tyler Looper for a 57 yard pass play that ended just a yard short of the goal-line. Blake Bristow powered over from a yard out to cap the two-play, 58-yard drive.After holding Pawnee on fourth down at their own 48, Morgan once again went to the airways, this time catching Bristow in the open that went 48 yards and an early 12-0 lead.That’s when the Black Bears started using their single wing power offense and drove 64 yards in 17 plays to narrow Tonkawa’s lead to 6-12 with 8:13 left before halftime.On first down, after the kickoff, it was Bristow again, this time running all 55 yards to put Tonkawa up 18-6. Bristow finished the evening with 104 yards rushing on 14 carries and another 86 yards receiving on four pass catches. He scored three times.Pawnee would get within four points of the Bucs -- the closest they would get all night -- on their next possesion, scoring on a 9 yard pass in a 6-play, 73yard drive. This time their two point conversion was good and it was 14-18.Tonkawa would score again after the kickoff, this time going 64 yards in 7 plays with Cam Jackson scoring from six yards out with 2:12 left before halftime. Jackson also had a 16 yard run in the drive and-Morgan hit Bristow for a 12 yard pass play to help set up the score.Tonkawa led 24-14 at halftime and scored the first four times with the ball offensively.
