The annual Lucky Duck Derby sponsored by the Tonkawa High School Alumni Association, who is partnering with the Tonkawa Masonic Lodge for this event, will be held on Monday, July 4th, immediately following the parade downtown Tonkawa at the canal on West Grand Avenue just west of the Christian Church.One can adopt a duck for the derby at the First National Bank, Gateway First Bank, Tonkawa Chamber Office, Sarah Campbell’s Dental Office, Mike’a Payne d/b/a Plush Salon, Williams Construction, Tonkawa Vet Clinic, and from THS Alumni Board members (Jeremy Owen, Ty Williams, Darren Pendleton, Jill Shackelford, Melinda Glasgow, David Fruits, Debbie Flanery, Blaine Fath, Chris LaBlue, Randy Caughlin and Reta Swords). Individuals selling ducks include Lori Simpson, Dawn Huff, Michelle Owen, Darla Tharp, Ruth Jeffries and Lori Evans. Ducks may also be adopted at Venture Foods on Monday, June 20th through Friday, June 24th, from 4 pm – 7 pm. Then 9 am – 8 pm beginning Saturday, June 25th through July 3rd or until we sell out.The cost to adopt a duck for the Derby is $5.00 each or 5 ducks for $20.00. Proceeds go toward THS Senior scholarships and THS projects.
