Register now for the McFadden Kids Hooked on Fishing scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at Camp McFadden.“Applications are available and should be turned in to the RCB North Branch, 14th and Prospect,” said Jeremy Hollingsworth, Camp McFadden board member and Hooked on Fishing co-chair. Deadline to enter and receive the free Hooked on Fishing t-shirt is Friday, April 15. A donation of $15 is requested with each entry.The event is for children ages 5-12. Participants will be divided into teams and will fish in the two Camp McFadden ponds. Each child should bring their own fishing rod and bait. Fishing will be catch and release. Each team leader will keep track of the number of fish caught by their team members and those on the team catching the most fish will each receive a free rod and reel provided by The Bass Federation. Second place team members will receive a tackle box also from The Bass Federation.“Check-in and receipt of t-shirts will be 8:30-9 am with fishing and water safety presentations from 9-10 am and fishing from 10-11am. This will be followed by presentations of the prizes and a free hot dog lunch for the kids,” said Stacie Smith, Camp McFadden director. Other family members wanting a hot dog lunch will pay $5 for the hot dog, chips and drink.Fishing will be catch and release. Children are encouraged to do the fishing, but adult family members are requested to stay and accompany their child.
