Tonkawa’s new Aquatic Park, now under construction at Blinn Park, will be opening for the season Saturday, May 28, it was announced by City Manager Kirk Henderson to the mayor and city council recently.The council approved hours and pricing for the new facility at their April 19 meeting.The pool will be open on weekends through Labor Day weekend after school starts in August.Pool hours will be Monday-Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. and Sundays, 1-6 p.m.Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday will be night swims from 7-10 p.m. Monday, wednesday, Friday and Saturday will be pool party nights. Pool parties will be by reservation only. Parties can start on June 6 through sept. 3. Monday, Wednesday and Friday parties will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday parties can be scheduled for either 6:30-8:30 p.m. or 9-11 p.m.Pricing for parties is $150 for 50 or less and $200 for 51 or more. To reserve a party date there is a $50 deposit.Individual day pricing is as follows: Up to two years old, $2; 3-17 years, $3; 18-64, $4.; 65 and older, $2.Passes will also be available as follows: Individual pass, $75; Individual plus one pass, $100; family of four season pass, $150 (must live in the same household ($25 each additional member).Adult water walking will be offered 11 a.m. to noon every day free of charge.In other action, Councilmen Rick Allan, Kenneth Smith and Charles Conaghan: (Jack Evans and Tracy Burns were absent)-- Approved the monthly financial report. The city has $13,989,756 in total cash with $4,678,871 in unrestricted funds and $8,858,433 in restricted.-- Approved Mareta Woodard and Parkhill smith and Cooper Engineering for the new walking trail project approved by the DOC at Ray see and Blinn Parks. Amount of the grant is $712,578 and the city will be providing $38,507 in funding for the total cost of the project of $751,085. The council voted to hire Parkhill to do engineering at a cost of $137,173.-- Approved an ordinance de-annexing all land west of I-35 on Fountain Road. (See map and legal page 8).-- Approved an ordinance rezoning 501, 503, 53 1/2 and 507 S. Main from restricted light industrial to C-4 commercial. (See legal page 8).-- Approved a resolution authorizing use of $263,236.43 in the American Rescue Plan on general government services.-- Approved an economic development contract between the city and Gateway Labs to construct a building with a lab in Tonkawa.
