New walking trails are being plannecd for Blinn and Ray See Parks, according to action taken at the March 15 meeting of the Tonkawa city council.The city is seeking a grant through the Department of Commerce totalling $737,945 with $38,507 the city’s match.The trails will be six feet wide with four inch thick concrete. City officials should know by May 1 if the application is approved.In other action at the meeting, Councilmen Jack Evans, Rick Allan, Ken Smith, Charles Conaghan and Stacy Burns:-- Approved the monthly financial statement with the city having total cash of $14,153,153 with $4,699,575 unrestricted and $9,453,578 restricted.-- Approved a 2022 CDBG grant application for water system improvements. Total cost to the city will be $1,443,000 for two miles of six and 12 inch water lines. The grant is for $600,000 and total project cost is $2.043 million.-- Approved payment eight to Carrothers Construction for the new aquatic center for $145,486.-- Took no action on the contract between the city and chamber for Tonkawa recreation. A meeting between the two groups will be set up soon with discussion over the public taking priority over traveling teams in use of the fields and other matters.-- Approved surplus equipment including a 1973 generator, 1991 Ford digger truck, four-wheel drive trencher and fire department rescue tools and pump. The equipment will be offered for sale, but the fire rescue tools will be donated to a department in Old Mexico.-- Approved a recommendation to re-zone 501, 503, 503 1/2 , 507 S. Main in Tonkawa from industrial to C-4 as recommended by the planning and zoning board.
