50 years ago, February 10, 1972State Representative Brian Conaghan recently conducted a onean inquiry into law equitably county assessors of the state are doing their job and came up with some very interesting facts. Conaghan got his figures from the annual report that each county assessor makes to the ad valorum tax division of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.Some of the disclosures that Conaghan made are – 54 counties of the state list on agricultural products such as wheat, cotton, peanuts, seed, etc. on the tax rolls as personal property. Tulsa county led all counties of the state with $220,000 worth of agricultural products and Kay county was second with $94,000. Seven of the counties listed from $10 to $50 that had been declared.-15 counties in the state have no valuation listed for dry cleaning equipment including Noble and Payne counties.Nancy Cathey To Appear In SWSC Concert On FridayMiss Nancy Cathey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cathey, 316 North Jenkins, is a member of a Southwestern State College Jazz Ensemble to be featured in a concert Friday, Feb. 11, climaxing the Second Annual Day of Jazz sponsored by the SWSC department of music and the Southwestern Music Co. of Weatherford. The concert is scheduled at 8 p.m. in the College Auditorium and will feature three soloists, Clark Terry, well known trumpet player on the NBC “Tonight Show” who is making his second appearance at Weatherford. Mrs. Marian McPartland, a pianist who is known as the first lady of jazz, and John T. Roberts, trombonist who is president of the National Association of Jazz Educators and director of the department of music education for the Denver, Colo., public schools.Also included on the Jazz Day events are a contest for 15 high school bands and a clinic for participating students to be conducted by the visiting soloists. Awards to the bands for honors in jazz will be presented at the concert by Dr. Drew Denney, Weatherford dentist.46 Are Arrested Here In January By City PoliceA total of 46 arrests were made during the month of January by city police, according to a report made by Chief of Police Leon “Pete” Linton.
