Karlton Witter is working this summer in the butyl and butadiene section of Central Technical division at Humble Oil and Refining company’s Baytown, Tex. refinery. He is engaged in evaluating the performance of a new tunnel dryer at the Butyl Finishing Unit. The results of his study will be used to modify operating conditions or techniques to improve operations.The son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Witter, 1110 N. Sixth. Witter is a junior chemical engineering student at Oklahoma State university where he has been elected to Sigma Tau and is a member of the student chapter of American Institute of Chemical Engineers.He received the A.S. degree in pre-engineering at Northern Oklahoma Junior college in 1966, he was sophomore representative in the student senate there and the Engineers club publicity chairman. Witter was elected the best musician in the senior class at Tonkawa High school in 1968.City Council Cleans Slate To End YearThe first payment on the city power plant extension was approved by councilmen Tuesday evening at the final meeting of the current fiscal year.The claim in the amount of $173,705 was approved for the Fairbanks-Morse company and represents 70 percent of the contract performance to date on the installation of a new 1,000 KW generating unit.Also approved was a claim to be paid the Bell Construction company for work on the new city reservoir in the amount of $18,907.31.Other claims approved at Tuesday’s meeting included $11,600.85 on the general fund and $918.07 on the street and alley cash fund.Councilmen also approved the transfer of $4,135 in funds within the budget to wind up the fiscal year. Transferred from the capital outlay fund of the fire department and the operating fund of the light plant were $1,000 from each, $2,000 from the personnel account of the light plant, and $135 from the meter deposit account of the light department.Receiving the funds were: City clerk’s office, personnel account, $150; sanitation department, personnel account, $365; police department account, $120; and light plant, fuel and oil account, $3,500.Mayor Ivan Foster adjourned Tuesday’s meeting with the reminder that July’s first meeting would be held on Wednesday, July 5 instead of the regular date, July 4, a holiday.Mrs. Buck Reports on Girls StateMrs. A.
