The Northern Oklahoma College Lady Mavs have opened the 2021-22 season.Coach Greg Krause starts his 39th season at the helm, Krause has won 605 games as the Lady Mavs’ head coach. NOC returns three from their 2021 squad including guards Delaney Reimer and Morgan Livesay, and forward Travisha Cogdell. “It’s a good sophomore group,” Krause said. “They have worked hard and we’re counting on them to lead this year’s team.”Other sophomores but new to the Lady Mavs program are Amaya Chandler, Alena Sly, and Addie Trent. Incoming freshman include Jatalyah Williams, Shelby Rayner, Jordan Holman, Morgan Hawkins, Lexie Boyer, Tracy Ikwumere, and Makhia Fernandez.“We’re excited about this freshman group,” Krause said. “They have shown good things in practice and in our scrimmages. They have come along to the point where I think we can be a deeper team this season.” Riemer, a sophomore from Sentinel, Oklahoma, was a double figure scorer in 2021 and Krause is counting on her to lead the Lady Mavs’ offense. “Delaney is just a solid player,” Krause said. “She does so many things well.” Shelby Rayner, a freshman guard from Tasmania, is a transfer that has played well in scrimmages. “She is a gifted scorer that can create for other players,” Krause said. “She is an aggressive player that is very physical.” I think we’ll have a lot of options offensively,” Krause said. “We have a chance to be more balanced than years past.” “We’ll see how the pieces fit,” Krause added. “That’s always a challenge to find the right combinations for what we want to do offensively and defensively.”
