Tonkawa School Board members Monday night voted to hire Joe D. Hall Construction Co. to do the proposed central cafeteria project.The proposed bond issue, which little is known about right now, won’t come before voters until August of 2022.The Hall firm will serve as construction manager to facilitate the TPS project.In other action, board members Casey McAninch, Nancy Appleman, Brian Bowling and Cara Beth Johnson:--Approved payment of encumbrances totalling $74,251.04 with $74,052.04 from the general fund and $199 from the lunch fund.-- Approved joining the Oklahoma High School Bowling League. Superintendent Lori Simpson said it is for grades 9-12 and includes a girls team, boys team and a mixed team with five on each. Five students have signed up so far, she said. Nevona Bossert will be giving pointers to the students.-- Heard an ACT college readiness report from Principal Kyle Simpson. simpson said ACT tests were given oct. 5 to grades 9-12. Of the 37 seniors who took the test, 19 scored a composite of 18 or above, making them college eligible.-- Approved an adjustment to the TPS para-professional pay schedule. Simpson explained the wage was based on a 7 hour day instead of the current eight. To make up the difference for the rest of the school year, another $3,939.60 total will be paid to the 11 paras.-- Approved Indian policies and procedures.-- Approved a new 2022 regular Tonkawa board meetings as follows: Monday, Jan. 10, Feb. 7, March 7, April 11, May 9, June 13, June 27, august 8, Sept. 19, oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12.-- Approved a final general fund operating budget for 2022 fiscal year of $7,664,176.34, up about $1 million from last year.-- Approved making application for E-rate.and making application for Impact Aid. The school received $305,000 last fiscal year.
