60 years ago, May 25, 1961Coach Mann Gets Milking Stool at Awards AssemblyEarl Mann, retiring industrial arts instructor at Tonkawa high school, was not overlooked at the annual awards assembly of the school held Friday. Mann was presented with a milking stool, painted in orange and black – school colors.Supt. A. J. Evans read a letter “from Mann’s cows” as Bill Plummer made the presentation. The “letter” called attention to the fact that Mann’s present milking stool was the “unstable one-prong type.” Dale Simpson, Mann’s successor in the industrial arts department, built the new four-legged model.Mann, who spent 23 of his 36 years of teaching at Tonkawa and was also a school bus driver, was further honored by pep club students who presented him with a cake baked in the shape of a school bus. It was decorated in the orange and black of THS.
