Prairie Fire is a musical group of performers, originally from the Ponca City area. Comprised of siblings – Hannah, Luke, Amy, Ashley, and Abigail Ballinger, family friend, Josiah Colle, and, more recently, younger sibling, Isaac Ballinger, Prairie Fire has blended folk, new grass, country, and bluegrass, echoing the sounds of the past with a youthful vibrancy. While the original group began to form around 2008, their performance highlights have included placing third at the 2012 KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest and fifth in the 2014 contest, along with performance appearances at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO in both 2013 and 2015. Prairie Fire was also the youngest featured band at the 40th Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS in 2011, and performed at various events in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas over the years. In 2015, the group released two albums, Live at the Poncan Theatre and Boots Up: Live At the Poncan Theatre, Pt. 2, both available on iTunes and Spotify. While the group dispersed as they grew into adulthood, representatives of Prairie Fire will be gathering together this month to appear at Gospel Jubilee on July 31st.
