The following proclamation was presented to Oklahoma State Poet Laureate Joe Kreger at the recent city council meeting.
The proclamation follows:
Proclamation Of The City Of Tonkawa For Oklahoma’s State Poet Laureate Joe Russell Kreger 2021-2022
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Tonkawa recognizes the Oklahoma State Poet Laureate 2021-2022, Joe Russell Kreger.
Whereas, Joe R. Kreger is a graduate of Northern Oklahoma College and Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.
Whereas, Joe R. Kreger is a devoted full-time rancher and producer of pure-bred and commercial beef cattle and entrepreneur.
Whereas, Joe R. Kreger was named Oklahoma State Poet Laureate in 1997 by Governor Frank Keating.
Whereas, Joe R. Kreger was appointed to serve as the Oklahoma State Poet Laureate 2021-2022 by Governor Kevin Stitt in April 2021.
Whereas, Joe R. Kreger is a cowboy poet, and he has published books and audio albums. He shares life’s experiences and his faith through poetry.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Tonkawa, Oklahoma that we the Governing Board of the City of Tonkawa, recognize Joe Russell Kreger as Oklahoma State Poet Laureate 2021-2022 and his gifts of creative writing for everyone to enjoy.
Passed and approved this 18th day of May 2021 in the City of Tonkawa.
