Tonkawa Pride Award...
Those who know me should be expecting this message to rhyme.
Its the way I express thoughts and feelings from time to time.
Tonight is no different, so here’s the attempt to express,
Mine and Kyle’s appreciation and heartfelt thankfulness.
Our Tonkawa roots were planted awhile ago-way back when.
During the run our family made claim, stuck a flag in.
From that day and beyond kin folks have had no reason to roam.
They had found the perfect place they could call their home.
Our parents followed suit, getting married and settling down.
In this place called Tonkawa, the best little place around.
My mom was reared up north about 9 miles from here
She’s forgiven, not her fault, she was soon a Buccaneer.
Growing up our lives were different, country girl, city boy
Kyle would visit here with family cause it brought him lots of joy.
He’d stay with grandparents and visit cousins, during the day
Harassing Heather and I while we’d try to run and play.
Over 40 years ago Heather set us up on a friendly date.
A year later we were married, it must have been fate.
We set up house in the country and later moved in town,
Within a 4 mile radius of our beginning we’re still found.
When we started our family a decision had to be made
Do we leave or stay, Is Tonkawa making the grade?
We searched our hearts and our heads and decided it’d be
Truly the best place for us and our children of three.
Our kids had good fortune of being a Buc better than the rest
Winning championships, setting records, getting educated the best.
Only drawback Mom and Dad were always working at their school
Not a chance to get by with mischief or a bad grade, wasn’t cool!
In the end all three graduated, and started their own lives,
Going to college, started jobs and married their husband and wives.
All happy productive and productive citizens where they reside.
Kudos to our little town Tonkawa, to you we show pride.
Throughout our years of educating kids at Tonkawa Schools
We’ve worked with the best folks with bags full of tools,
Full of devotion, compassion and most of all full of love,
For each and every one of them we thank God above.
Fast Forward to today the Simpson’s are still plugging along
60 combined years in Tonkawa education and still singing the same
song.
Roaming halls, shaping kids trying our best to do our part
In promoting the Pride of Tonkawa with a very full heart!
