Mary Scott Makes A Average at Alva
A Tonkawa student was one of 21 with straight A (4.0) averages listed on the president’s honor roll for the fall semester at Northwestern State college at Alva.
She was Miss Mary Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Scott, Route 2.
The dean’s honor roll lists 81 making 3.5 averages. A minimum of 14 hours undergraduate or, 12 hours graduate course work is required for rating either the dean’s or president’s list.
Lily Unit Has Gift Exchange
Mrs. Carl Nardheim was elected president of the Madonna Lily unit of the Tonkawa Garden Club when that group met Monday afternoon in the home of Mrs. O. E. McKenzie. Mrs. F. R. Dorsett was co-hostess for the meeting which featured a valentine gift exchange.
Also elected to serve as officers were Mrs. Ed Cunningham as vice president and Miss Bessie Schwab as secretary-treasurer.
Mrs. Harry Ogg, program chairman presented Mrs. M. P. Brooks who spoke to members on plans for planting in preparation for the horticulture exhibit at the Kay County fair.
Mrs. Brooks, who is city librarian, also announced a Library Tea for April 9 and outlined plans for a dinosaur-illustrated summer reading program.
The annual garden club tour was discussed, and the state convention announced for March 23 at Putnam City. Mrs. Claire Chase presided.

Two Tonkawans To Graduate From Central State
EDMOND – Some 414 Central State students will graduate at the conclusion of the fall semester. A breakdown of students by degrees shows a total of 371 undergraduate and 43 graduate degrees to be conferred.
Bachelor of Science in Education BSE leads the way with 110 graduates. Second is Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with 95, and third is Bachelor of Arts (BA) with 62.
Forty-six will receive Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees with 45 receiving Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAE) degrees. Four will graduate with bachelor degrees in Music Education (BME).
All master’s degrees will be conferred in the field of education (ME).
