Cityan Takes Post At First Baptist Church in Wewoka
Guy Lyall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lyall, has accepted a position as minister of music and education at the First Baptist church of Wewoka. He will assume duties there February 1.
Lyall is a graduate of Tonkawa high school in 1955 and Northern Junior college in 1957. He received his degree in music and education at Oklahoma Baptist university in 1960.
During his schooling, Lyall served as minister of music at the Second Baptist church, Ponca City, the First Baptist church at McLoud, and the Pioneer Baptist church in Oklahoma City. He also completed six months of training in the U. S. Army at Ft. Knox, Ky.
New Job Press at News Will Double Production Rate
Installation was completed Saturday on a new commercial printing press in the Tonkawa News printing plant which will more than double the production capacity of the shop.
Placed on the line of job printing presses was a new Heidelberg, high-speed medium sized press especially adaptable to multi-color printing jobs. Still in use at the News is a larger Kluge automatic press and two open presses, used on special jobs.
Francis Langdon, News publisher, said the flexibility of the new press and its high speed would double the impression potential of the plant, resulting in faster service for commercial printing customers.
Working with the factory installation expert last week was Frank Coates, News printer, who will operate the new equipment.
All Are Members of Club Publicity Committee, BPW Club Is Told
Bill Roller, new editor of the Tonkawa News and chairman of the C of C publicity committee was the speaker for Thursday evening’s dinner meeting of the Business and Professional Women at the Tonkawa Grill.
Roller emphasized that every member of an organization should consider himself a member of the public relations committee and take every opportunity to publicize his club and its work.
Detailing the duties of a club’s publicity chairman, he told the BPW members that projects undertaken for the betterment of the community are much more news worthy than the fact that it met, ate and adjourned. The speaker was introduced by Mrs. George Mix.
Mrs. Elmer Thomas presided during the business period when plans were made for the annual birthday observance to be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9. Miss Betty Barclay is in charge of arrangements.
