Colossians 3:23-25
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.
Do you ever give up, lose confidence in yourself, or lose heart because you hear of someone doing "great" things? We sometimes measure ourselves by the things others have accomplished. Somehow thinking what someone else is doing is so much greater. One of my favorite scriptures is a story about "The Widow's Mite" . It goes like this .... One day, Jesus was sitting with His disciples near the temple treasury watching people depositing money into the offering boxes. The court of women held thirteen boxes people could cast their money in as they walked by. Jesus watched as the rich were contributing large sums of money, but then along came a widow with two small coins in her hand . Some call them "two small copper coins, which make a penny" (Mark 12:41 ). The King James Version calls the coins "mites." These were the smallest denomination of coins at that time. The widow put her coins into the box, and Jesus called to His disciples and pointed out her giving: "I want you to notice, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others . They all gave out of the ir wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on .... so which gave more?" (Mark 12:43-44).
Just because we hear of something great does not mean God thinks it is great. I don't think we should complain that what we ' ve been entrusted with may seem so little? Whatever you do, do it heartily. She was faithful in her giving .... I believe, one of the toughest things to find in a person is faithfulness. God loves and rewards a faithful heart. God calls us to greatness in the ordinary. So, whatever you do, do it heartily.
