The regularly scheduled Zoom Meeting will be on January 21, 2021. The guest speakers will be Oklahoma’s own Governor David Walters and Kalyn Free.
Governor Walters severed as the 24th Governor of Oklahoma from 1991 to 1995. He was responsible for multiple reforms and initiatives, ranging from Rural Development initiatives, significant changes in waivers for Medicaid, dramatic improvements to workers compensation and oversaw a 15 year job creation record spurred on by the original Quality Jobs program. He also has a long history in international business and has had career in Higher Education.
In 2018, the Oklahoma Democratic Party (ODP) elected Gov. Walters to serve as the National Committeeman for the Democratic Nation Committee (DNC). He was then elected by the Midwestern States to serve on the Executive committee of the Democratic National Committee.
Our second speaker will be Kalyn Free, who was elected by the ODP in 2018 to serve as the National Committeewoman for the DNC. Free is a Choctaw woman, an attorney specializing in environmental and Indian law, a former elected district attorney, a fierce advocate for tribal sovereignty, the environment, equality, women’s rights, human rights and organized labor. She has been a public servant in Washington, D.C. and Oklahoma. She has also been active in tribal, state, and national political campaigns for more than 30 years.
Both Gov. Walters and Kalyn Free will be speaking on the work they are doing on the DNC and on behalf of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.
