No computers at library
Until further notice, the Tonkawa Public Library will no longer offer access to public computers. This is a precaution taken to keep both the patrons and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The library building is open only for those wishing to check out or return materials, fax, or have copies made.
The library building is not available for the following activities: Sitting, resting, chatting, studying, meetings, cell phone use, laptop or tablet use.
Chamber sets annual car show
The Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce has set its annual “Good Vibrations” car show for Saturday, Aug. 15, at Blinn Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a bicycle show to coincide. Questions: Call 628-2220.
Methodists accepting furniture only
Donations for the First United Methodist Church Thrift Sale in Tonkawa are no longer being accepted at this time, with the exception of FURNITURE. If you have any furniture items that you would like to drop off, please call the church office at 580-628-2309, or Meredith Williamson 580-716-2141. The date for the Thrift Sale is still unknown, but will be advertised as soon as times allow.
Donate to weight room project
The Tonkawa Alumni Association is conducting a fund drive for the 2019 weight room project for Buccaneer athletics, president David Fruits said this week. Make checks payable to the Tonkawa Alumni Association, P.O. Box 12, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
IOOF Cemetery needs donations
The IOOF Cemetery is in need of donations to continue operation of the cemetery, Garry Davis announced this week. Brent Bailey is caretaker. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 121 with checks made to the Tonkawa Cemetery for upkeep. Davis said money is short because of fewer funerals.
Caregivers support group in Tonkawa
The Kay County Caregivers support group meets from 4-6 p.m. the first Monday of every month at 118 S. Seventh, Tonkawa, across the street from the Tonkawa city offices. It is sponsored by long term care authority and the Area Agency of Aging. Anyone assisting with the care of a family member, friend or loved one is welcome to attend.
