City-wide garage sales Aug. 1
The annual Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce city-wide garage sales will be Saturday, Aug. 1. Fee will be $14 and includes city permit, Tonkawa ad and map and advertising.Forms are available at the chamber office or on page 5 of today’s issue of The News.
Elementary enrollment July 28
Tonkawa Elementary School will have enrollment for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade on July 28th from 8:00-6:00. We will be enrolling at the Tonkawa Event Center. New students will need to bring shot record, birth certificate, social security card and CDIB card if applicable. Pre-kindergarten students who did not enroll in June will need to come to this enrollment. Mid-high and high school students will be enrolling during this time period at the event center also. Due to Covid 19, we are asking that only one parent and no children come to enrollment. We will be following social distancing guidelines. The school year will begin on Thursday, August13th.

CITY WIDE GARAGE SALES – AUGUST 1ST ….Everyone was disappointed the chamber cancelled in April and asked the chamber to hold their money for August. Methodist Church will not be joining the August garage sale.

Youth football sign-ups taken Tonkawa Youth Football sign-up will be July 1-31 for grades

Chamber sets annual car show
The Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce has set its annual “Good Vibrations” car show for saturday, Aug. 15, at Blinn Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a bicycle show to coincide. Questions: Call 628-2220.
City library is open
The Tonkawa Public Library will be doing a soft opening on Monday, May 4. The library will be going back to normal business hours, Monday & Tuesday 10-6, Wednesday-Friday 9-5, and Saturday 10-1. Only the front door will be unlocked and available for use,.
The library will only be allowing 8 people in at a time (because 2 staff members will be here as well). Open for quick check-outs only (face masks are encouraged), no computer usage or loitering. All programs have been canceled, this includes Toddler Time and the 2020 Summer Reading Program.
