Hey, Bucs and Buc fans! (If you remember that, you have been reading this since the beginning.)
Last summer, before my senior year began, I agreed to write The Buc Blab for the 2019-2020 school year. It was one of the best decisions I have made.
For the first couple of months, I did as all The Buc Blab authors were accustomed to. I reported on sporting activities, school events, and fundraisers. I kept the articles short and sweet.
However, in March, everything changed. When COVID-19 initially broke out, there was not much for me to report, since school had been cancelled. Because of this, I had a choice; stop writing The Blab, or continue on. As you can see, I chose the latter. The articles did not come as easily anymore. There were no events to cover, and it seemed as though there was not any good news to share. Still, I got creative, and that is when things turned for the better. I wrote about the upset of us seniors and how we were impacted. I wrote about ways to stay busy during quarantine. I was determined to encourage and uplift our small community.
In May, after the previously set graduation date had passed, I was once again faced with the choice; stop writing The Blab or continue on until a formal graduation occurred. The decision was easy. Of course, I chose to continue, and now here I am today, writing my final article.
I am so grateful to have been able to write The Buc Blab. It is an opportunity that truly changed my life. I sincerely mean that. Writing this article has shown me the importance of community, and of togetherness.
I have received so much support and love from our town. I cannot express how thankful I am. I never expected the feedback and response to my writing and I am beyond grateful.
To everyone who has encouraged me, supported me, and cheered me on, thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me.
To Lyle Becker and The Tonkawa News, thank you very much for allowing me to write The Buc Blab. We did not know what we were in for when we began! It turned out well, though, and I am so happy that you gave me the opportunity. Lyle, it is going to be odd not sending articles to you every Monday. I am going to miss ...
