THS One-Act Play Rated “Excellent”
High ratings were received by Tonkawa high school’s one-act play entry in the district contest held in Edmond recently, according to Mrs. Ruth Hamburg, dramatics instructor. The score sheet was received only Friday from the judges.
The play, “Smokescreen” by Robert Kasper, drew superior ratings for casting and directing and choice of play. Excellent ratings were given for acting, voice and diction, vocal interpretation and in total effect.
Appearing in the play were Karen Gravel, Billy Noles and Bill Burns. Judge of the contest was Miss Ruth Arrington, Northeastern State college.
More Workers for Hamateur Selected
Additional workers for the sixth annual Hamateur Revue were named today by Max Smith, in charge of gates to the event.
Taking tickets for the March 12 show will be John King, Leon Vassar, Marvin Veit, Tom Holley, Bob Pledger, and Delbert Smith. On the gates March 19 will be E. K. Heady, Murray Scott, Everett Higgins, Frank Taylor, Lester Snow and Jay Liles.
For the finals on March 26, gatekeepers will be Mrs. Jack Harris, Mrs. Francis Langdon, Mrs. T. J. Allen, Mrs. Hugh McIntyre, Mrs. Bill Roller, Mrs. John King, and Mrs. Russell Glasgow.
Golden Rule Rebekahs Plan Linen Shower for IOOF Home of Checotah
Final plans for the School of Instruction to be held here today were completed when members of the Golden Rule Rebekah lodge no. 66 met in regular session Tuesday evening in the IOOF hall.
In conjunction with the school, a linen shower consisting of towels, wash cloths and tea towels will be held for the IOOF home at Checotah. A cash contribution will also be made to the home.
At the Tuesday evening meeting Mrs. Charles Shultz read an invitation from the Perry lodge inviting Tonkawa members to attend a Friendship night March 16. Mrs. Goldie Gardner, chairman of the sick and relief committee, reported on lodge courtesies extended during the past week and Mrs. Clem Ogg, member of the refreshment committee for the school instruction reception, gave a report prepared by Mrs. T. J. Hobbs, committee chairman.
A contribution was made to the local Heart fund and plans made to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 for a regular meeting in the IOOF hall.
Miss Dorothy Jones presented a pedesal to the lodge which was made by Elton Staggers.
